How to get clamiga from? Sounds like a medical question.

Yep, I was wondering if the pun is intentional, it really sounds like an std.

There is a classic Robin Williams / Craig Ferguson bit about the std sounding like a girl's name.

From common lips.

Why did they put it under "dev/basic"?
amiga386 2 days ago [-]
No idea, it should be under dev/lang where other lisps are, but Stefan Haubenthal is an accomplished software packager so perhaps there's a good reason.

Maybe lisp is considered a basic language. :)

I like how the heap limits on this Amiga lisp are still more than what the personal version of lispworks offers.
Other "nice" names for this product:
AmiColi
AmiLisp

How does Clamiga compare with the most recent CLISP which did support AmigaOS?
CLISP's maintenance status is mentioned, but I can't help wondering in which way that would be relevant.

From reading the linked page, they both compile to bytecode not native instructions.
There are open source Common Lisp systems for the OG Macintosh that compile to native instructions that could probably be ported to AmigaOS.
Cambridge Lisp contained a native code compiler and was available on AmigaOS.

Clamiga has a native jit compiler for m68k.

Super excited to see native MorphOS support. That is awesome. Might drag the ol' G5 out and have a time.

Clamiga reads a lot like chlamydia in other languages

An unfortunate branding. I read "Clamigia," so...similar.
I knew a watch company that called a high-end watch "Diptera," and they sent out a memo, explaining the name (because "diphtheria").
Also, "Diptera" is a genus containing houseflies. I don't think it was a good branding move.

After a Clamiga coding session I like to kick back with a Clamato Cocktail.

I mean, I’m British and I immediately thought of chlamydia. But, considering it, we are absolutely world renowned for our filthy and degenerate sense of humour, so it’s probably just that.
Still, Common Lisp on an Amiga: interesting.

Ah yes, chlamydia.

Clamiga should be treated immediately with a large dose of Clatari S.T.

I suspect some Clankertosh LLM came up with the name Clamiga.

Almost every commit in the github repository is generated by claude code, so this may be correct.
